LISTEN

At first, one should seek extensive listening.
In the middle, reflect on all the texts so that they become advice,
Finally, one should practice day and night.
All this should be dedicated to the flourish of the Buddha’s teaching.
-Jé Tsongkhapa, founder of Gelukpa Lineage (1357-1419)

Literally “to listen” (Sanskrit: śruta, Tibetan: töpa ཐོས་པ་, Chinese: wen 聞), to learn or study is one of the three tools for acquiring wisdom on the path to liberation. Before Buddhist teachings were written down, all instructions were exclusively received aurally-they were heard when a student listened attentively.

Here is a collection of teachings that Dr. Lye has given over the last few years on various aspects of Buddhist training. But whether you identify “Buddhist” or not, the Buddhadharma has something for everyone. So as the Buddha would say: Come and see! (Sanskrit: ehi paśya). Come and investigate.

A collection of single teachings and serial programs where Dr. Lye presents the Buddhadharma for a general audience. These talks are especially helpful when you’re just starting your spiritual journey or when you need a refocusing of priorities.
