A TEACHING ON SEVEN BRANCHED WORSHIP

Dorjé Lopön Dr. Hun Lye gives a verse-by-verse teaching on “Seven Branched Worship.” These twelve verses are extracted from the famous aspiration prayer of the Bodhisattva Samantabhadra known as Bhadracaryā-praṇidhāna or “The Aspiration Prayer of Noble Conduct”—itself often appended to the Avatamsaka Sutra. The seven basic elements are paying homage with one’s whole being (expressed as “body, speech and mind”), making offerings, confessing errors, rejoicing in the goodness of others, requesting the awakened-ones to teach the liberating Dharma, entreating them to remain in the world for the benefit of all and finally, dedicating all merit to the liberation of all.
